Synnott Mountain Guides is a year-round mountain climbing guide service operating out of New Hampshire's Mount Washington Valley. We are your Mt. Washington experts, offering winter ascents, mountaineering courses, ice climbing, Mt. Washington Observatory overnights, Presidential traverses, and backcountry ski adventures.
Synnott Mountain Guides offers private and group climbing instruction in rock climbing, ice climbing, mountain climbing and backcountry skiing. We conduct our courses at a variety of different areas including Cathedral Ledge, Whitehorse Ledge, Cannon Cliff, Frankenstein Cliffs, Mt. Willard and Mt. Webster. We specialize in winter ascents of Mt. Washington. Synnott Mountain guides also offers guiding in a variety of areas throughout the US and internationally.

Owner and director Mark Synnott is an AMGA Rock and Alpine certified guide, and a long time member of The North Face Climbing Team. He has completed more than 25 climbing expeditions to various mountain ranges around the world and has established numerous first ascents (please see the About page for Mark's resume and more info on his varied accomplishments). Mark is also a member of The Mountain Rescue Service A-Team.

Synnott Mountain Guides also has several other highly qualified guides, besides Mark, so whether you're looking for a sunny day of multi-pitch rock climbing at Cathedral Ledge, a day of ice climbing in Crawford Notch, or an introduction to mountaineering, Synnott Mountain Guides has the expertise, local knowledge, and safety record you are looking for.

SMG can take care of all the arrangements for your visit, including lodging, transportation, and equipment. We can also arrange airport pickup and dropoff at the nearest airports in Portland, Maine (PWM-1.5 hrs. away) Manchester, NH (MHT-2.5 hrs.) or Boston (BOS-3 hrs.).
